(Columbus, OH) -Last weekend the inaugural JEGS 150 was held on
Saturday night, marking the first trip to the speedway for the
NASCAR K&N Series. Practice, qualifying, and the race
were all held on Saturday. Qualifying began at around 6PM and
as the 3rd car out on the track, Cale qualified
17th out of the 27 cars that made the trip to
Columbus. This would put him in the 9th row on the
starting grid. The green flag dropped around 9PM and the
Suddenlink/Network West Virginia Chevrolet looked fast on the first
few laps as Cale made his way into the top 15. However, on
the 5th lap, Cale fell victim to an accordion effect of
brake checks that slowed several cars. A car on the outside
made contact with Cale and sent him into the infield. Cale
was able to re-fire the car and make his way back onto the track
just as the leaders passed Cale sending him a lap down. Cale
held onto the damaged race car and earned his lap back on the
ensuing caution on lap 15. Cale then brought the car in for
some repairs early and then tailed the end of the field for the
next green flag. Cale fought hard for the next 130 laps as he
dodged several big wrecks. By the end of the race the car had
substantial damage, but Cale still managed to finish the race in
18th place.
